ATELIERs DU SOLEIL

How she lives with Nature ...

Monique Faillard was born at the foothills of the tutelary Mount Sainte-Victoire, and since she was 7 she decided she’d become a painter and open a workplace to dedicate herself to art. Supported by her family since then, after high school, she went to Paris to study in Martenot and in Florenza, to increase her skills in watercolors and oil painting.

She became pupil of Father Diego Donati, Franciscan monk and leader of the Perugia etchers where she got used to etched-engraving, aquatint and lithography. Her very first international exhibitions are from 1979, precisely in the United States. Since she is 28, these take place very often in Japan, whose culture is to her fascinating. It’s also what uses to fill her art gallery and for what she organizes cultural events.

Though she often goes around the world for her exhibitions, Aix’s countryside always is a root of inspiration and fulfills her painting subjects. With her pupils and trainees coming from various countries, she roams through the countryside to experience Cézanne’s vibrating inspiration of which no one ever gets tired of. With her enthusiasm and organization skills, Monique Faillard always get closer to «color roaring». Her pallet is jubilant, healthy, and with its wide color range exposes health, strengh and love. Her knife tools lay it in deep layers that mix together on the canvas. The symphony of the greens, where the dazzle of light turns the English green into Napoli yellow. The exploding red blow up into fireworks, rape’s pure yellows oppose themselves to the sunflower’s oranges. Cut into successive lifeless shapes, the color levels do spread, everytime tawnier with the strenght of a geometry made up with powerful contrasts of alignments and junctions of straights with almost no curves.

This erudite destructuration of space, Monique Faillard doesn’t calculate it or doesn’t draw a thing on the canvas before. It’s already drawn within herself, in osmosis with the patern that actually spread from her. No premeditation ever comes to stain her sensual revelation, chromatically resounding with nature that makes her restore on the canvas her very first visceral previews to what is not definable.

It is the language of the inexpressible, far from the strict copy of things, it’s the interpretation of a song where the notes get, by their coloration, the power of the image.
